Servicing FAQs
All costs are upfront with no hidden extras. This means you’ll know in advance exactly how much the service will cost. While your car is in our workshop, if there’s anything that requires further attention, we’ll let you know. In fact, we'll send you a short video of what we've found.
With every service we take a video report, so you can see exactly what our technicians are looking at on your car.
Video reports take you into the heart of your workshop. Our technicians show you all the major safety parts on your vehicle while it’s still on the ramp. This means you can simply and quickly understand what we’re doing and what needs doing.
All videos are kept private on secure web servers which means only you can see the video and you won’t have to download large video files, the videos are streamed via a link we send you.
Use a qualified mechanic.
With 60 years of experience servicing cars you can be assured we have the knowledge and reputation that makes us the envy of most service centres. Our mechanics are amongst the best in Perth and form a very important part of the Young’s WA team. They are qualified and highly experienced in log book servicing on any make or model vehicle. There is no question that using our technicians for log book servicing on any vehicle make or model will compromise any manufacturer’s new vehicle warranty.
We have all the latest equipment and expertise to provide high quality log book servicing.
if a problem arises that is covered under the manufacturer’s warranty the vehicle should be taken to a franchised dealer for those repairs to be carried out free of charge. Youngs WA are not able to claim the costs of any such repairs.
Ensure servicing is done on time.
It is very important that log book services are done on time at the manufacturers recommended time-frame and all items on the scheduled service are carried out. If you don’t adhere to these intervals, the manufacturer may have the right to decline a warranty claim regardless of any previous service history or where the car was serviced.
It’s also important to know, the service intervals are time or distance – whichever occurs first. The ‘whichever occurs first’ is important. For example, if the manufacturer intervals are every 12 months or 15,000 km, you must have the car serviced either before the 12-month mark or, before you drive 15,000 kms. Say for example, after 11 months you’ve only driven 10,000 kms, you still need to get the car serviced because it’s reaching the 12-month mark.
That works both ways, if you’re driving high kilometers and you’re reaching 15,000 kms only 8-months since your last service, you need to carry out the next scheduled service before you reach 15,000 km.
Use quality parts.
We only use quality and reputable products such as Mobil oil and brand filters. When carrying out logbook services, we can offer you the choice of;
Manufacturer genuine parts or,
High quality after-market parts
Every part or consumable we use in a log book service (or any other service for that matter) always complies with the ACCC guidelines for servicing.
After-market (non-genuine) parts will not by any means compromise your new vehicle warranty as long as the parts used are good quality, fit for the purpose and equal the manufacturers specifications. In a lot of cases, after-market (non-genuine) parts are a lower cost alternative for the same or better-quality part.
Ask us about the difference.
We’ve got a number of different options when it comes to servicing your vehicle, and our menu style fixed price servicing is ideal for vehicles no longer covered under new car warranty. If your car is under new car warranty, we suggest you look at log book servicing.
Which fixed price service you choose depends on a few things;
The vehicle’s type, age and driving conditions,
When the vehicle was last serviced, and
How the vehicle is running.
If you're looking for a mid-level car service then our $189 car service would be a good choice. It covers all the safety components and is a great price. Or, if you haven't serviced your vehicle in a while or you feel it needs a bit of love and attention, our $299 car service will be the better option.
With both these fixed-price services, you'll get a full mechanical inspection report and a video safety report which lets you know exactly what's going on under the bonnet and if there's anything that may require attention now or in the future.

Maintaining your wheels and tyres is crucial to ensuring your safety on the roads. Your tyres need to be in a good roadworthy condition free from damage and correctly inflated.
It is very important that your tyres are inflated to the correct pressure and that the tyres themselves are in good condition with sufficient depth of thread. Keeping your tyres in top condition will result in extended mileage and safer travel for you.
Problems that can happen as a result of poor tyre maintenance;
Increased stopping distance
Vibrations
Make the vehicle pull left or right
Loss of grip in wet or slippery conditions
Premature tyre wear
Excessive fuel consumption
Regular checks help prevent problems
Regular tyre pressure checks, tread checks, tyre rotation and balancing are all important safety measures to ensure even tread wear and the longevity of your tyres. There are a few regular checks you can and should do yourself and for the checks & maintenance you can’t do yourself, we can help you.
Check your tyre pressures
When was the last time you checked your tyre pressures? If you can’t remember, it’s time to go and do it. Next time you’re at the petrol station, check your tyre pressures. While you’re there, look at each of your tyres carefully and check for sharp objects that may cause punctures.
Excessive wear on the outside edges of the tyres can mean the tyre is under-inflated and wear on the center of the tyre can mean over-inflation of your tyres.
Check the wear of your tyres
Many tyres have tread wear indicators moulded into the tread. When the wear bar is level with the tread, it is time to replace your tyre.
By law, every tyre must have a minimum of 1.5 mm of tread across the entire tread area of the tyre. If your tyres are getting close to this, you must replace them immediately. It’s the law and it is extremely unsafe!
Regular tyre rotation, balance & alignment
Your vehicles owner's manual should explain the manufacturer's rotation recommendations, but if no rotation period is specified, we recommend your tyres should be rotated and balanced at least once a year or every 10,000 kilometers. Some vehicles however, including 4WD’s may require rotation more often.
Dyno tuning gives your vehicle a tune-up of unparalleled quality, providing you with the smoothest, most economical performance possible from your vehicle.
MORE POWER
MAXIMUM RELIABILITY
INCREASED FUEL ECONOMY
GREATER TORQUE SPEED
IMPROVED THROTTLE RESPONSE
Regardless of what modifications you have, dyno tuning makes a huge difference. When you add performance parts to your vehicle, the ECU’s calibration has to be modified to take full advantage of these upgrades. With one of our in house custom tune, your ECU will have a calibration that is unique to your car and the upgrades fitted.
We’re extremely passionate about performance.
We build, test and fine-tune everything in meticulousness detail.
Even stock standard cars perform amazingly better with a dyno tune.
For example:
Commodore (VT-VX-VY) with no mods can usually gain around 25kw at the wheels and improve fuel economy by around 15%. VE-VF can gain 15-20kw at the wheels and the HSV gains more like 30kw solely from a tune and over radiator intake (OTR).
Unleash your V8 Commodore, HSV, Ford Mustang, Ford Falcon or Toyota 86. Choose from the range of our Harrop performance packages, engineered specifically to unlock the potential of your vehicle. You get some seriously impressive performance with a driveline warranty.
